The requirements seem pretty straight forward in the manual, but I've a few questions that don't seem to be answered in the manual:
1. Will the character suffer the same experience point penalty when changing to these new classes? If so thats pretty rank considering that all of the new classes (except the pointless Harper class) require at best 6 levels in another class. 2. What is the chance of paralyzation in an Assassin's Death attack per level? If its pitiful I see no reason for this classes existance - a rogue would be better (though refer to questions #3 and #1 as well). 3. Does the Death attack of the Assassin and the Sneak attack of the Blackguard work exactly as a Sneak attack of a Rogue? In otherwords do you have to be invisible or in the Shadows or actually backstabing while in combat? Additionally will those opponents that are immune to a Rogue's Sneak attack be immune to each of these attacks? 4. Does the Blackguard's summon increase in power with an increase in level for either of the two types of summoning? For the undead summon is this the same as the cleric level 3 Animate dead or the cleric level 6 Create undead (or something else - it couldn't possibly be Create Greater Undead)? For the Fiend summon what type of spell are we talking about (I'd soil myself if it was Gate)? I assume that both cannot be summoned at the same time, is this assumption wrong? 5. How does the Summon Shadow ability for the Shadow Dancer level-up? In otherwords at what level is there an increase in the Shadow's strength and what is the increase? 6. What is the power level-up like on the Shadow Evade option for the Shadow Dancer? 7. Once in combat will a character with at least one level of Shadow Dancer be able to "hide in plane site" by simply clicking on the Hide button again so that you can attempt another sneak attack (i.e. essentially effectuating quaffing an invisibility potion after each Sneak attack - though not taking the round to do it)? I'm sure there are other questions to be had here, please feel free to add aditional questions not answered in the manual. |

SO many questions ...
let's see - (1) NO. Unless your character is ALREADY suffering an xp from a multi clas condition, the prestige classes do NOT induce a xp penalty. (2) TOTALLY dependent on the targets saving throws. some monsters are immune. (3) Good question .. don;t know the answer to that one. Can't answer 4 thru 6 as i haven;t played the PrC's in question (7) IIRC, YES. Sorry I couldn;t be more help.

Graci!
In regards to question 2, So leveling up does not do anything for an increased chance of paralyzation? It sounds as if your saying that you always paralyze on this sort of attack unless the opponent's savings throws defeat it, what then would be an average defeat (and what type of savings throw are we talking about here..fortitude?). Ultimatly I guess what I'm asking is: what is your feeling on the effectivness of the paralyzation feature, and is it working against really tough opponents? In regards to question 7, SWEEEeeeeeeT! I've been thinking about a character to take through NWN that is the opposite of the Monk I played last time. 7 levels of Rogue, 1 level of Shadow Dancer, and the rest as a Blackguard. Moreover I'm thinking of just going the ranged attack route with the addition of traps, scroll casting, etc.. I should be able to pile on the damage with this character as a sneak attack + have the ability latter in the game to do serious damage even without a sneak attack for those that are immune. For question 3...
In pen and paper, they are considered the same, and stack. So if you have a thief backstab of 3d6, and a blackguard backstab of 3d6, you have a total backstab of 6d6.

On question 7. No and yes.
If range attacking, yes. In close combat you have to brake away from combat to make it effective. You can still click but the monster will still see you so you are not hiding and can't get sneak attack. That is as I have experienced it with my shadow dancer. They are a bit cheesy in NWN actually. A fighter/rogue/shadowdanver builed kicks ass from this place to another with no problem. And the worst thing is that you only need one level of shadowdancer really.. In PnP you need to be within 10 feet from a shadow source, your own doesn't count ![]()
