sorry for the question . but in bg2 it says you can.. damn lies!!! I did a little more searching and found out with out question..... you can't ..

you can rebuild them though
download a mod called The Vault
level up your BG archetype char and buy what he used to have there

But starting with such a high level character will probably ruin your fun.

that depends on what you plan on doing with the high level char
there are a lot of mods out there that need a high level char to play

if your going to play the campaign it would probably ruin your fun

I was pissed about that too.
No biggie, we just go and make a brand new one in our favourite chars likeness but still.....i'd been reading it on the tran-screens of BG2 for weeks and when I finally get it you find they falsely advertised this option.

I completely agree with this statement. If Bioware thought it was possible the BGII characters would not be transferable, they should never had put that in the BGII game.
