Is it possible to store items in desks, chests, etc and be reassured that they'll be there later?

Just don't store them in a place you can never return to, like Charwood castle. (Did that once...)

get something called magic bag, that way you can store even more item in your inventory.

if you don't need it any tiem though. sell it.
