i have a halfling thief with the skill Parry and i think it makes combat worse and more difficult. Should i invest many points in it and hope itll be really good later?

I invested 10pts in it, I used it once and found it to be complete crap. Didn't put any more in it.

If im not mistaken parry is two things, first its what your both thinking of the "parry mode" which makes a check on every attack against you and hopefully repostes, but second it also makes an automatic skill check every time someone rolls higher than your armor class to see if you block it. I could be wrong but ive noticed with my lvl 19 warrior that i blocked a hell of alot more end game with 21 parry than the begining with 2.........

Are you sure? I thought the same at first but realized that if you right clicked your character and selected special attacks, you could then select Parry mode. This would make my Dwarf just stand there and block (no attacks at all but not many of the enemy attacks were getting through either)
I hope I am wrong because your version sounds much better

Points in the Parry skill only go toward anything useful when you enter the "Parry" combat mode of the radial menu. The parry animations you see your character doing are just that, animations. they are part of the standard combat animation, and don't actually reflect use of the parry skill.

the only good thing with parry is whe ur opponents roll is very bad u get a counterstrike... but it's very rare... I tried it in the beginning of the geme but havn't used it since cmopleting the peninsula area... I'm now in the end of the 2 chapter

Yeah, for me, "Parry" is right up there with "taunt" as a useless waste of points. And so is "Improved Power Attack." Now, "Cleave," that's really something.

i found parry and improved power attack to both be useful
as my rogue; i had around 30 parry skill toward the end often times an opponent even without being in parry mode would have an incredably difficult time hitting me since almost all of his swings were parried or dodged(atleast by the animation it was parried or ducked) Also, if your fighting a very hard hitting monster, you might want to go into parry mode so that you can "tank" the mob but not actually do enough damage to kill it; your henchman is the one wholl be doing the damage while you choke down healing potions and parry attacks. Improved power attack also has its uses; some of you may say, well i cant hit the broad side of a barn while in the mode; i say to that BS! my orc with improve power attack running has a atack rating of 17 which is exactly what my rogues attack rating is normally; and she can obviosly hit things well enough. So, usefulness of improved power attack would be: opening chests with high damage resistance, and killing many moderate difficulty opponents rapidly. |

on a different note, any idea which things *would* be worth getting? hmm, that could apply to feats as well, any favourites here?
