Hi i've just finished BG with my fighter, (first time i've beat sarevok without cheese)and i cant figure out how to import my character to BG2 i know about getting files from the root directory of BG to the root directory of BG2 but i'm completely and utterly computer illiterate and have pretty much no idea wat all this means! so if anyone has the patience to give me a click by click guide to importing my character i would greatly appreciate it

i had trouble with this to, to the point where i couldnt do it, but you need to export your BG1 caracter. if you dont know how to do this, then you simply go to your character records page and click export. and either give it one of the titles given, or make your own.
to import your character into BG2 BG can be uninstalled, becasue the save files and a bio ware folder will be saved into program files. so go to BG2 click import, and at the (IIRC) left side of the screen there will be BG1 exported characters. it should be there. but for some reason it wasnt for me. if this doesnt work it could get more technical. it did for me

i ended up creating the same ranger, but made him an archer, he turned out same leval and had pretty much the same stats

BG2 is really fun, but unlike BG1 there is no place to just roam aound and fight . but the quests are good and chalanging and i guess ill se you in the BG2 forum

this won't be perfct but:

1) load a bg1 saved game and 'export' your character using a name you'll remember - this will eb the file name for the character file

2) find the BG1 characters folder and your character file

3) find the BG2 characters folder

4) copy you characters file to the BG2 folder

5) launch BG2 and start a new game - choose to 'import' in the character creation screen and he/she should be there

enjoy . . .
