I've just burnt my save games to cd
(and the adapted Town Avi files whilst I was at it) are the save games in the folder save all I need if I update my computer / reinstall etc ?? BTW it looks like my computer thinks they are half life 2 saves |

Yes. The saved game is enough. You will be able to continue the game from the saved game file after reintalling the game.

Excellent I feel much safer
Both my W and W characters and level 40 Morrowind characters suffered fatal hard drives crashes which whisked them from this world |

Wouldn't hurt to add roster.dat as well but that file is not critical.
Glad to hear you have some safe saves!!

Hmmm... I thought the roster.dat file *was* critical. Far more than the .avi files... you can just uncompress them again if needed.
I believe that roster.dat holds your base character information. Without that, your characters may not actually exist...
