For some reason the NPC's outside of the town don't speak anymore? I installed XP and reinstalled the game (I updated to te new patch). I also Uncompressed the townmsk files so that it would work with XP, but I still don't get any characters to speak outside the town? Is this a bug of some sort?

I'm running XP and I don't have most characters in the towns talking. Gareth talked but almost all the shopkeepers have no sound when they're talking. All I get is text so I don't know if they're supposed to talk or not.
Outside of town most of the NPC's are talking though. I have the game patched and used Virtualdub to redo the towns also. |

There are some NPC's you will never hear talking - whatever was needed just didn't make the final product and wasn't fixed in the patch.
Has been quite a while since I played but I'm sure there were a number of non-town NPCs that I never heard either while I think other players did - Hopefully someone will know the solution. It didn't really bother me, in fact there were times that I wish I could have turned off the text too! (especially Sebastio) ![]() Wyv |

I mean characters that used to talk in win98 now don't? So i'm guessing its an error with XP or something. The characters in the town never spoke..

Yepp, it´s definitely windows. I think it depends on how you are playing the game... I use win2k and can turn on/off npc talking, which is very very nice when you know what they´re saying. To hear sound I suggest that you play W&W in compatibility mode, preferably in win95 mode. You ought to hear the some talking then...

Yes it is... I tried it to get the game running more smooth and saw (heard?) that the NPCs weren´t talking any more. Theie lines just flew by in the textbox! To do that run:
"regsvr32 c:\windows\appatch\slayerui.dll" ps. The regsvr32.exe file is found in c:\windows\system32 so the complete command would be: "c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 ....." [ 06-12-2002, 08:46 AM: Message edited by: WillowIX ]
