If you go to the BG2-forum, and read the sticky post, you'll find many links to good portrait-sites. Luckily, BG2-portraits works with BG and vice versa.

When making a portrait, you have to make two version of it, one large and one small. The larger must be 110 x 170, and the small one must be 38 x 60.
Also, remember that they both have to be .bmp.

And their names should be shorter than eight characters.

if you have a scanner you can place your own picture in as a game portrait
just resize it to 110 X 170 for the large and 38 X 60 for the small in fact you can take any picture you want and do this and make your own group of your friends as the team members or find pictures from books and or comics and use them.

And for the best performance, the large one should be no more than 24 bit, and the small one no more than 8 bit.

Hmm - Am I the only one that actually like the original pictures. I think I'll miss some of the atmosphere of the game. Having to look at a picture of my own smiling face It would be impossible to imagine a paladin in shiny armour. I would probably make my tank drop all his weapons, turn around and run away as fast as he could, whenever an enemy showed up

Well, they're probably the best you can play with, although when you play the game so many times, they become so awfully boring. And, you won't put your picture there. You can do it if you want to laugh a bit, but you're not gonna play with 'em. You should instead check the misc profiles for the game all over the net (if you haven't already).
