Wondering what everyones favorite monsters are....
For me so far, not having ventured beyond Serpent Temple and the entrance of Shurugeon Castle, I'd have to say I love the Serpent Priests - "the spirit of the serpent will strangle you..." quickly followed by a strangled gurgle as they die from lightning/elemental blast. And the nice xp givers - mantraps. Ratlings are fun too when you blast them with lightning as they approach you - and their shuriken add up to a nice selling value. Have to say the 'ickiest' so far, for me, is the spiders - I am bug-phobic rl and walking down to the milking spiders room seeing them hanging there... |

Somehow or the other, I finished the Serpent Temple only using Shock and Burn, simply because they "recyle" so fast they're really quick to use. Just me.
I am a BIG fan of the ferocious foursome west of Ishad N'ha. They dissected my first party because I saved with them right up my a**e. Makes them so much fun to kill when I know where they are and how to incinerate them. Or rather burning haze and meteor storm them to death. I'm phobic of stupid things that might steal my 3 802 239 in gold, namely the nymphs and highland rogue like things. But my favourite monsty has to be Rumphy. Spare a thought for the poor blighter. All he does is tries to get on with his meditation and sleep, and all these adventuring types keep blundering in and trying to kill him, when they can't really. Thing is, he gives half the XP as killing a mantrap, and doesn't pose anywhere near half the threat. In fact with range weapons he poses no threat whatsoever (but because he's so feeble I run up to him anyway). Quite a nice bloke really. Generous with presents too, although not too creative in what he gives... |

I finished Serpent Temple and got Elemental Blast right before the last battle. I was still building my character's spells up, I keep well-balanced characters so my Wizard's Suncraft/Stonecraft was kinda low (especially compared to what the faq suggested) because i was boosting his Pole/Staff and Sorcery and other things.
Actually I've found you can get through most parts of the game without too much trouble or too powerful characters. Long as you have some patience and a good melee troupe. Patience being that I just relied on all the cure poison potions i found to get rid of my poison when the faq i was looking at suggested you HAD to have Cure Poison (it was amazing how many cure poison potions was dropped actually). As for my favorite monsters - the trolls! They crack me up! They can't speak worth shit, they're totally weak but they talk like they can actually do something to you (trolly eat you later!). Them and the ratlings, nothing is sweeter than the gurgling sound they make when you slice them. That plus their silly accent and their pompous cocky attitude (attacking me ONCE and saying "isn't it kilt yet?", as if!) I also liked spiders because they were soooo easy to beat but give sooooo much experience compared to alot of other monsters. |

I like mantraps and jungle lillies, they are quite memorable (because they simply obliterate everyone)
I also like the Temple Guardians in Anephas' shrine. (the walking statues). They make for nice melee battles and lots of xp. Other than those, I like most of the undead. Very well designed and tons of fun to wack. |

Hmmmm... the Mantraps and Lillies are my favorites to hate! Especially in the Boogre Prison. The most beautiful creatures have to be the Dragons, and the Hydra! Nice work. The Nymphs are well done for adolescent eye candy. The undead things are good gross out images, especially when they barf all over you! I hate that. Mummies are fun to burn!

I like rumphy too!!! I got almost half of my Exp. in that fello' all of my six char. is lv. 11. i started "Playing" with rumphy when all my char. was just lv. 5...... i killed rumphy for almost a hundred times.... I'll be missing that ghost when i get to Brimlock Roon.
Q1: is there any regenerating monster in Brimlock Roon? or any monster that would give (a lot of) exp.??????!!!!

In BR, there's a pit in the Shrine of Anephas where you can kill Gold scorpions 'till yer hearts content! Check the Best Tips Thread fer more info! Thanks again to Saz!
![]() +Dr.Pick P.S. You don't actually HAVE to go in the pit and use "Teleport", either! [ 11-18-2001: Message edited by: Dr.Pick ]

Hi,
I think the Sphinx is quite a good monster. The beast attacked me caus i accedently walked towards the shrine behind her during completing the automap. The beast gives 260.000 experience and it was not impossible to kill her if you keep on healing the party and leaving some mana for curing, cause she hits always with siteeffects (insane, petrify, poison). The most annoying monsters are the swampflies (or whatever their name is, the larger versions of this glowing bugs). I hate the buzzing sound they make, when hitting on them. From design i like the longtooth, think they look really nice. |
