Whats up with this dude? he keeps summoning those annoying Pheonix Guards over and over again, and if you kill him, nothing special happens! could someone tell me if he has any real purpose, or is he just some sort of "easter egg" type of dude?

He asked you to stop stepping all over his grave very nicely you know ...

AFAIK, he's just an easter egg .. and a little hot-headed for that
-okay, enough with the bad jokes -

Hes an easter egg. No quests, not serious XP, no loot. No nothing. Ignore him unless you want to go through one of the most frustrating fights in the game.

I found the Pheonix Guards to be very easy. My PC fighter has the following equipment/stats

Stats:

Str: 18/00
Dex: 17
Con: 19
Wis: 13
Int: 17
Cha: 15

Equipment:

Helmet of Defense
Full Platemail
RoP +1
Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise
Boots of Grounding
Algernons Cloak
Large Shield +1
Girdle of Bludgeoning
Scimitar +3(not the Defender)

Total AC -5

He is level 5 or 6(about 39000 exp) and has 65 HP and a thac0 of 5 i believe and he took on all the pheonix guards several times ALONE! at the end of the fifth fight, his HP 78/7after using a potion of heroism). As i said, an easy fight with the right tactics.

I did the following:

I had most of my party shopping, while my primary character was outside 'stepping' on Mr. D's tomb stone. My primary character wore
Helmet of defense and Ring of fire protection. In addition my priest had cast Protection from fire on him. He then had more than 100% fire protection, which actually made him gain HP's (ie. healed) from the fireball explosion from the guards.

The main reason for starting the fight is to slay the big fat person (forgot his name - something like "Oeblek") on the main street, to get his emeralds and money, without loosing reputation.
