What did all of you who have made it through the game think of the final battle with Cet? Honestly, I thought it was WAY too easy. I was expecting lots of nasty spells coming from Cet and minions of evil undead to come after me. He sent maybe three spells my way; I tapped him with the Mavin, and *poof* he was dead.
Don't get me wrong...I thought the game was lots of fun, and I definitely plan to do another playthrough, maybe with just one or two characters. However, after all the time and effort, the ending just seemed rather anticlimactic. Your thoughts? |

In general the end battle was way too easy, but I was just wondering as well, how many people decided to continue attacking Cet while he went on with his speech? I attacked him during the duration of that speech, and when he was finished, he was well below half health, then I easliy finished him off after he began attacking me. Which I thought was lame, anyway though, I agree on the game in general, it was really good and definitely worth a few playthroughs.

Yep, the ending is WAAY too easy. One can justify from talking with G'Ezzered Ra that Cet is only an evil spirit and not manifested in dense form, so he's weak, but really!
My idea is, why is an endgame battle needed at all? I personally get far more out of any game I play by doing the side quests and exploring than I do by whooping up on the final boss (and I have known many bosses in my time, and Cet is no boss! (Lloyd Bentsen paraphrased)). I'd like to see a game, for once, that just left that part out, or had a different goal altogether other than defeating something. -Sazerac |

Yep - thumbs down on the ending - too easy and only two characters at the most could really contribute to Cet's fall. The rest of the game, however, was enough fun to keep on playing!!

You can do the old Might and Magic "whole party using a single bow" trick by shouting "all touch the crystal) and simply going into turn based, pass the Mavin to whoever's turn it is) and either bashing him or blasting him (depending on wich the character is best at). I resorted to this because he wasn't doing enough damage to frighten me and I got fed up with discovering new spells that he was immune to (He was described as being vulnerable to the Mavin only but no mention of spell vulnerabilities, I erred on the generous side and tried most of my gamut before just hacking away at him). Shame, but it won't stop me from enjoying this wonderful game for months to come.

I was REALLY suprized by the end fight when Only my warlock could whack Cet with the Lich's Staff! I had forgotten to "dip" the Mavin in the Black Fire!!!
I thought we were kind of cheated to be able to only hit him with two weapons (so much being put into better equipping ourselves) but then, he WAS Cet and it made sense that someone that powerful should not have been able to be taken down by mere mortal weaponry. I did not stop and trade weapons so that everyone could take him down that much faster. Honestly, I didn't think of it but would probably would have lacked the patience to do so. We were however blessed out to the max with protection spells and fared the battle well. As if we needed them hahahaha It was cheesy (as ALL game endings are) but went with the story. I think the reason no one ever likes a game's ending is because they don't want it to end! I mean, do you all finish games you don't enjoy playing? I don't! : ) Moni [This message has been edited by Moni (edited 04-03-2001).] |

I can get behind what you're saying Moni.I usally don't want the game to end.I was dissapointed by a few things tho the battle with cet was far too easy while drawn out as well, the supreme evil that gave cet his power never showed.I really felt cet should have been a sub boss because of this and that your charters are really finally just getting good by the time you get to the final dungeon.Anaphus was easy to kill as well, without some other quest why bother to give you a new sword?I thought the dragon telling the tale was neat but the whole anaphus and kerha looking down from the stars and smiling or crying was lame.If you did become the new cet well nobody seems to care. And it kinda ticked me off playing in fear of having the gods wrath apon me if the mavin was missused when it doesn't seem to matter what you do.Don't get me wrong I loved the game and will replay eventually,I still intend to visit here and contribute as well.
