Okay, I give up. Where are the raptors that I need to find the egg so that my Ranger can be a real ranger?

Depends on where you're at in the game. If you're just starting off, there's a raptor to be found on the west side of the Snake River in a clearing between Nymph Lake and the Toad Village. You can pick up 2 eggs there. If you're past Brimloch Roon, there's scads of Raptors out on the Enchanted Isles.
