Hullos
I finally bought this game yesterday but it's a little different from most games I've played so I thought I'd ask you guys about some of the stuff, although it will probably come clear as I play along. Do you find it rather dark as well? I know my screen has a silly brightness setting, I always play with the brightest possible but still it gets too dark at times. I looked everywhere in the game but I couldn't find a good way to make it lighter. I raised "gamma" to the max but that really didn't do the trick, it still looks strange, the chars are so bright they are white at times but still I cant see the ground in the forest. Any ideas or suggestions? The inn/chars/saving. It seems it works a little like Bards Tale, if you remember that. It seems you can make a load of chars and keep them at the inn and pick out the ones you want to play with, right? First time I played I ran out of town and got killed by some Bone Lord, so now my inn is full of bones. I guess it's just to delete those chars and create new? Or can they be revived? If it costs money it's not really worth it since I can just make new ones. Will the game save my chars if I just dump them in the inn and quit? Is that the way you are supposed to do it? Couldn't find a save option in town, so I figured it was. Well, sorry about the goofiness of this note, I guess I have to play some more and things will come clear. |

The game has a fair share of interface quirks, and I think you're right in asking about it in stead of getting frustrated.
Game rather dark: indeed, but it you get the patch (e.g. at ironworks) that should help some. If you have a Whiskah in your party: it's nightvision helps, so select it while walking around. And try to get the sun spell illuminate (3rd level) as soon as possible. You're more or less correct about the Inn: you can store characters there and select which ones you like at that moment, but there are 3 towns, and characters stay at the first Inn unless you actually move them. It's just not that practical, and since every created character is 1st level, they soon get useless when your party progresses. The bones you can resurrect at the temple (get a live character to take them), and since raising is level dependent, it's not that expensive yet. But if you're not yet attached to them you can also delete them by getting them in your party, right click on them and press the delete button. Your characters, as well as the game state, will be saved when you enter or leave the inn. But the way you'll more often save is outside town, where you do have a save button. It's the same one that 'load's in the city, which also means you can't load a game outside! You'll have to quit and then load. Note that if you want to reset the game state, to start all over with the adventure, you have to use the 'reset adventures' button in the game options menu. (That is probably not relevant yet, because you might prefer not to listen to Gareth's story again, and I guess you haven't done much besides that.) But once you get around the quirks in the game it gets very enjoyable. |

Ho Hoggar,
Darkness is a bane of life - If you have a Whiskas character they will give you a bit more light to see by because of their night vision trait (while that character is selected that is). You need to work on the illuminate spell (level 3 sun spell) before things get much better. If you want to follow where you are headed, travel with your map screen selected in the little left hand window (keep an eye on the map to follow your progress). Better still, until your party gets a bit better, try and aim to spend your nights in the crypt (where it is going to be dark anyway). No, you can't save in town - do that before, or better still after your town visits. You can revive the characters at the temple (or by yourself when you get level 5 spirit magic). Unless one of them had supreme stats, I would delete your piles of bones. |

Carg - you beat me this time , and typed in a longer answer too (Davr the Overwhelmed is beaten again - it's been a hard day what with women firing Emails at 20 paces ). Catch you at the quiz my friend - now if I can just find a video store with the movie - I need to study for this one, it's not a strong topic for me.
