Freezy Character Creation

I'm having trouble even creating a party, having finally beaten IDI I was happy to get II, and now it won't load. I'm creating my party when it freezes and I have to manually shut down my computer. Nor can I find any trouble shooting sites. I'm slightly ignorant of how to find most of my computer information, but I have Windows 98 (stop laughing dammmit), and my directX is fully updated.

Sorry, I don't know what could be causing that. I have 2 ideas, though:

1. Is your disk scratched up? i doubt it, since its new, but that is a possibility.

2. Is your computer loaded with spyware/adware or viruses? This could cause freezing.

Someone else will no doubt have a solution.

hmm.. i agree with marty but here are 4 other things that could be happening

1. I doubt you have any mods installed, but if you do, uninstall them

2. Check your computers color setting, it should be around 32 bit or 16 bit and a windows 98 might have its color setting on 256

3. Your video card may not be up to date. You dont need a good video card, only a halfay decent one, but you might have a really old one that isnt compatable with IWD II

4. You can try reinstalling IWD II (although you probaly have already). When i was playing, targos was jittery all the time, i reinstalled the game and it was fine.

you can try finding out if black isle or interplay has an email address that you can get in touch with or possibly a help line. I tried best i could, i hope i could be of some help

Ah, thanks all, it was my color setting, too high on the game for my computer.

Woot, beaten all the way through the Prolouge in 2 days (Game time) Holy Crap is it that late all ready XD

I was under the impression that Black Isle had been shut down? I remember hearing abut it, but I don't recall exactly what the article said.

It's been "shut down", but IWD2 is two years old.

What characters do you have in your party, Yumi. I recently started playing IWD2 myself. It took three game time days to finish the prologue with my three member party.
