IMO, 33 is a v. good AC. all my chars had less than 33 apart from monk an they did good.
what is your char's DEX score?

AC 33 is OUTSTANDING: that's at or near the limit of what I have seen in the game so far. From that point, any substantial increases to that AC will have to come from spell buffs.

In HoF mode, you're not going to get your tanks' AC's much higher. I assume that a large reason that you're asking is that your tanks are getting whacked around a bit by the local nasties.

You can certainly buff up your party to increase your defenses. HOF generally requires somewhat different tactics. You need to be more circumspect with your tanks. You generally cannot just run up to the baddies and start whacking them and expect to survive long.

Try stunning, immobilization, charm/domination, and summoning spells.

i don't play with monks much...how do you get their ac up to 85? and when my dwarves play they usually have about 25 or 26 ac, and they are nay but unstoppable

An AC of 85 is flat out impossible for ANY class unless you hack your character.

I wonder if bloodtitan meant 35?

I hacked a monk once to max his dex/wis, then gave him every possible armor item he could wear (not many, but some) and he certainly didn't have an AC of 85. It was quite high, but nowhere near that.

Buy anyway, while 33 ordinarily is magnificent AC, in HOF mode, it doesn't mean much. Monsters have such a high to-hit they won't miss very often, no matter your AC in most cases. As Mag pointed out, HOF requires somewhat different tactics. This is one reason why

I've seen some rather lengthy discussion threads on this topic over on the Interplay IWD2 boards. I don't remember the details, but I tend to think that it's "possible".
