>Actually, there is a key for the side door. It's on the body of an orc shaman called Trugnuk. Now if you've made your way to the 'front door' of the fortress, that means that by all probability, you've already killed him or are about to. I can only suggest to search the bodies you dropped near that bridge which is nearest to the front gate. There are a lot of enemies on this map, which means that sometimes a corpse will fall over the loot of an already dead critter, so if you really can't find it, rest for 8 hours. The bodies will be gone after that, but any loot you might have missed will still be there, clearly visible on the ground.

Oh, sorry, I was sleep talking. The entrance to the goblin fortress is at the very south of the map. The gate key is the key to this gate. BEWARE THE GOBLINS, ORCS AND HOBGOBLINS!!

... but there´is a way through without much killing - more sneaky and stealthy and the XP is all in all the same ...

It involves sneaking one person around to Pondmuk and learning the password. That way, the party can go through the door by the entrance and just fight the guards instead of everyone on the level.

Alternatively, you can send a few fighters invis all the way around to the back side of the door, and have them kill the guards. It's faster than doing Pondmuk, though I recall you get some XP from him. Either way, if you haven't fought any of the clans, then you get some experience when you go to the next level (of course, after that, you can wipe out everyone if you want to .

Even less killing ...
Nightowl is right - sneak someone to Pondmuk, get your task of getting a spider carcass, sneak further to the south-western door of the spider room, open it, walk through, close it behind you, go to the north-eastern door of the spider room, open it and DON´T close it again. Oh - and don´t forget to rehide if necessary ...
The spiders will come out of the door attacking your enemies to the north. Kill one spider and give it to Pondmuk - you will get the password and XP. If you like kill the spider queen and give her carcass to Pondmuk too - more XP.
*Park* your hidden character in the now empty spider room or return to the rest of the group on the same route you came. Wait a little (about 1-2 minutes real time in my experience), open the password door and kill the immediate door guards. With just a little luck that´s it !!! All other guards to the north are off merrily chasing spiders ...

Good luck !!!

Banzai is correct. If you have a duergar (i think...it might be svirnifblen...whatever class can turn invisible as a skill) they would be very useful for this. And of course rouges too. And if you have one maybe you still have the invisibilty potion from outside the Broken Tusk clan's tent. That's useful too. Lastly, you must remember to pick up the wardstones the Taskmaster and the hobgoblin-who's-name-i'm-forgetting drop. You can't get up the exit ramp without them. Then of course there is the expreince quest with the goblin leader and the odd troll (im no good with terminology), but that's another story...
