Not a single house ever survived a search from me
I've allways looted every single house there was, took everything, sold every last crum of bread i found and became very nicely established,.. economically.
Too bad there wasnt much of a market for little kids, there were heaps a those in most houses

Have no fear Jan. If you search, loot and pillage everywhere/everything, you'll gradually agglomerate heaps of cash. In fact, many people think that getting so much gold is one of the game's flaws.

Definately a flaw with the game. By the end I had accumulated well ove 300K gold, and I had absolutely nothing to spend it all on.

It's true; in the end you don't know what to do with your gold.

But about gold earning. Sometimes when I want some money but don't have good thieving skills yet, I try this:

Go to the map of commander Brage (area 4100);(best move along the sides of the maps you have to move through, or search the safest way); You can walk straight to Brage and he won't fight you; you just have to give the right answer to his question; fairly easy; next thing: you are in the tempel of Nashkel and receive gold and exp. More money then you'd recieve by killing him for the bounty)

A short breakdown of your purse, by Chapter:

Chapters 1-3: I am SO poor! I like to go window-shopping at the Thunderhammer Smithy and High Hedge, and make moony faces at all the stuff I can't afford.....
Chapter 4: Okay, finding some loot here.....sure hope I can carry it all in 1 trip....dude, isn't there a STORE around here where I can sell all this junk???
Chapter 5 on: Damn, I'm rich. Hey, Halbazzer, pack me up another 200 Arrows of Detonation, willya?

I'm guessing that the reason you want lots of money is so that you can buy all those nifty items like: Shadow Armour, Crossbow of Speed, Robes of Archmagi, etc., so that you can be a very effective killing machine and ULTIMATELY win the game.
Right?
Well if may suggest something, it would be to not sit around and wait for the money to come to you, or even look for shortcuts, but rather, jump into action. Follow the plot line, or go and discover some side-quests, have fun, the money will eventually flow like a river. Be proactive, not reactive! Now that will be 19.99 plus tax.
