Hi, I just installed HOW and have imported my characters. I started playing and noticed when I clicked on any party member there is no speech coming from them. Surely, that is not right for HOW. Is it a bug?
Thanks, Gary |

Not that I know of. Check your sound settings - there is a range of options, and I'm not sure what the default is for HoW.
Do you have any sound at all (e.g. background music, spell effects)? Make sure you download the free expansion Trials of the Luremaster - it contains the final patch for HoW and should address sound issues if there is indeed a sound problem with unpatched HoW. You can find it at download.com or fileplanet.

Yes I have sound from music and the NPCs. In fact, I can load my old games from the original game and my party still has sound. Its just when I do the HOW part of the game.
I did download a patch for HOW 1.41. I wasn't sure if I needed the Trials..but I guess I'll download that too. |

TotL contains patch 1.42, so it's a slight bit better than the patch you have now. It's also a fairly large, free expansion with some nice, difficult fights in it.

Well, I was messing around with it a little more last night. I don't want to get too far in case I have to re-install or start over. But, I did a spell casting and their voice worked then. But, I'm guessing those aren't really individual voices for each character. I mean I guess when you click on them or move the order of the characters you access different sound files then when you just cast a spell.
I'll probably just put up with it. I had a hard enough time installing the expansion. |

try this.
Go to option/gameplay/feedback, and make sure you select "always" for acknowledgment. (it might be under "sound" and not "gameplay". Not sure. Try everything till you find "feedback". it should be there somewhere.)

I checked all the feedback and it looks ok. I went ahead and created a new party and just tried to start a game from the very beginning of ID/HOW and their speech works there too. Just seems to be related to playing the HOW only version.
