I had my Ranger and mage cast Protection on me, and they stacked. It seemes to be a glitch in the game, but I'm not so sure.
I plan to try it out with a full six person party, and if it does work, it opens up *alot* of possibilities in boss fights. [ 05-30-2005, 10:36 PM: Message edited by: Kyrvias ] |

One was the mage spell, the other the priest/druid spell.
I think those ones stack because they are from different ethos so to speak... Who can say? |

Yes, I believe it stacks if cast by mage and priest. Priest/priest doesn't work, however - no stacking of protection from evil (priest) and protection from evil 10' radius, for example. Another PfE stacking that works is the paladin's innate PfE combined with a priest-cast PfE spell.

yes that's true, but by the way it's a bug, because as per AD rules theyre not supposed to stack.

so you could, in theory, give a paladin a bonus of 6 to her AC? If so, then that should hlp you immensely in the beginning of the game.

Yes, just one of the reasons why paladins make great tanks.

In order to prevent stacking the game will usually put the effect "protection from spell x" when you cast spell x. For the different Protection from Evil spells, they don't give protection from the other versions, allowing stacked spells.
Don't worry about whether this follows the strict letter of the rules, just accept it as a small freebie from the game.
