Ok, so I cast a detect evil spell on the gravedigger in lonelywood, and it said that he was evil. I played the whole game and nothing ever happened with him....did I miss something, or is he just an evil moron gravedigger with no point?

 In fact... pickpocket him every now and then.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . The gravedigger isn't as dumb as he looks. He is a murderer, and he kills some lord and lady in a house in the north somewhere near to the end of the game. You go there and find the people dead, find him, confront him, he runs outside, and you can kill him.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - when you first talk to the Undead Barbarian King he talks about a assiasin sent by the Ten Towns that he's caught. And when you return to Lonelywood you can further clues in the Mayor's house. But the first man was a genuine emmisary of the Ten Towns who was tortured into confessing. The gravedigger is the real assasin. To get the final confrontation (mentioned above) - as well as another one! - don't go directly to the Sea of Moving Ice after exposing the Ice Dragon - instead return to Lonelywood.
