Dorn's Deep Help

I am brand new to the forums and to the game Icewind Dale, and I am having a lot of fun. However, I have reached an area of Dorn's Deep in chapter four that is really giving me trouble. When you find the entrance to the secret booby trapped room, you must enter the room and step on the floor tiles in the correct order to reveal the exit. The symbols should be the anvil and hammer, the crossed hammers, and the two interconnected rings. As I step on the tiles, I get the message of a click followed by eleven others. After stepping on the two rings, the stair way , for some odd reason, does not appear. Can anyone shed some light on this situation? All help is appreciated.

Go back into the room with the table and look CLOSELY at the statues standing in around the room. Examine them closely. The one just to the right of the door is a trigger for the staircase. Its right arm - the one holding the hammer is a lever.

If you back into the room that has the clue table you'll find a switch somewhere along the wall.

Ummm Malavon, uh he's okay, I'm not using any spells or anything I haven't found yet...honest.

Come to think of it he was in a rage again just before I perished.

oh ummm this thing? Uhhh nothing, it's ummm just a piece of rolled up parchment, it's not a scroll or anything. I just you know ummm felt like carrying it around in case I dunno Malavon showed up again and I wanted to smack him in the nose with it.

CV,

You can help me with something actually. Do you remember when you did the dialogue with Geralith and Larrel? Did the astrolabe pieces disappear from your inventory when you talked to Geralith (Larrel's assistant) or did they remain in character inventory? I'm trying to diagnose a problem on another game and I can NOT remember. I thought they disappeared but honestly do not recall.

Maybe the answers are on that strange scroll?????

They disappeared from the character inventory and then I was able to talk to Larrel.

Ouch, Mavlavon toasted me again.
