Yeah, so it comes down to this:

1. Why is the game soooo *#& choppy now that HoW is installed? It is unbearable the fight with the polar bear on Burial Isle. I have 192 MB ram, 450 MHz and 8 MB video card (but a stupid 64 MB GeForce in my comp that doesn't work.)

2. How do i turn on Heart of Fury mode? Its probably not a good idea now that you know whats happening with question 1!!

Thanks anyway. lata skata

Can't help you with Q. 1 - sorry

2. to turn on HoF-mode - just go into IWD-configuration - there is a HoF mode that can be activated by clicking a box (it it in the generel section below the difficulty setting)

Zak,

As for question one, try turning off the following:

Ambient sounds
Weather effects
Footsteps
COmbat sounds

Reduce Feedback to a BARE minimum

Increase your cache to 800mb

For your system, reduce pathfinding nodes to 4,000
and consider dropping the frame rate to 25.

Part of the LAG problem in burial isle is caused by all of the sounds and effects the programmers put in, and in addition, there are a large number of monsters, that once exposed, are trying to "path" to you. That can cause a huge slowdown.

I'm curious why your Geforce card doesn't work.

Yes, I am curious too. Its been in there for over a month. Hence: I've given up.

I will try all that Micah, thanks!

I almost don't remember seeing that button under difficulty section. Does it make a difference what level the "slide bar" is on? One other thing. How do i increase my cache capacity?

THanks guys

The Heart of Fury button is in the configuration program, just below the difficulty slider, but ONLY if HOW is installed. It doesn't appear in IWD only.

The cache size can be increased in the configuration program as well. I think its either under the game play options. Check out your available disk space before increasing this.

The configuration program can be accessed either from the pull down menu in windows (program files etc) or when you start up the game an option for configuration should appear as the third button down.

You can also try emptying the contents of your cache file to speed up performance a little. When the cache file gets full, the program has to delete and load various area files into the cache file to speed up access to them. Emptying out the cache helps speed up the process a little.

Also, if you have EAX sounds on, turn them off. That may help too.

Allright, bros, that helped clear things up. What really helped was changing DPT to 640x480. Now i can feel like i am in more control of my death(s)

peace
