What party combination is your favorite? Post your opinions here, my party is:
1) Malida a human paladin (melee) 2) Strahan a dwarven fighter (melee) 3) Lineda an elven ranger (ranged) 4) Shadowblade a halfling thief (ranged) 5) Maurdin a human cleric (ranged if magic is exhausted) 6) Vhalador a human mage (magic only, rarly melee) What party combination would you recommend? btw is my party a good combination? Just curious. ![]() [This message has been edited by Darlon (edited 10-14-2001).] |

That is a great all-around party. The only thing is, you'll miss out on a few good side quests without a bard...but that's a trifle. It's a great party for all-out strength.
The only thing is, you're a little light on spellcasters, and magic is a must in this game. You're going to be putting a lot on your mage. But that probably won't be too much of a problem, for the first game at least. My original group: Human Paladin Human Ranger Human Thief (dualled to Mage at 8th level) Dwarven Cleric Half-Elven Bard Human Mage Specialist (Diviner, could cast most offensive spells). I didn't have any trouble with this group; the only "tough" parts were when my thief was ascending up to 9th level Mage in the Severed Hand to get his Thief skills back...but by that time my Paladin and Ranger could bust through just about anything, and I used my Cleric to detect traps so they could be avoided easily. Cheers, ------------------ ![]() |

Good parties guys. In the 4 times I've beaten this game, I've never fogotten the Paladin.
Paladin Fighter/Fighter-mage(the spells Armour and spirit armour rock) Cleric(always seems to be a Dwarf?) Mage-thief(extra magic never hurts) Druid(shape-shifting is just so much fun) Mage(sometimes specialized, depending on whether I took A fighter-mage or not) This is not the only party I've taken, but it was alot of fun to see all that magic flying around. Although it left me a litlle light on physical attack sometimes. ------------------ You wore out your welcome with random precision. |

I completed IWD with this party complete and ALIVE:
Dwarven Fighter, Male x2 Half-Elven Ranger, Male Half-Elven Cleric/Ranger, Female Half-Elven Cleric, Female Half-Elven Mage/Thief, Female Had everybody equiped w/bows except for the Clerics and very rarely had to switch to melee weapons to fight less than 3 creatures. |

Well, my last party in IWD was (long, long time ago when I had the time to play):
1. Kitla, female halfling fighter/thief (mainly ranged, melee if needed)- neutral evil 2. Howard, male human paladin (melee) - lawful good 3. Ursula, female half-elf fighter/druid (melee) - true neutral 4. Aethelgrin, male half elf cleric/mage (ranged)- chaotic neutral 5. Jozan, male gnome fighter/illusionist (mainly ranged, melee if needed) - lawful neutral 6. Ryan, male human fighter (melee) - neutral good This party allowed me to use ALL weapons available in the game! Since some weapons have alignment requirements, having a mix of alignments is a good idea in IWD - there's no party complaints about reputation (just be careful if you have paladins or rangers, though) and your party members won't fight among themselves if you mix good and evil, unlike in the BG series. I could have used a Conjurer instead of the Fighter/Illusionist due to faster leveling-ups and higher level spells.
