I am running through the dungeon on Burial Isle and I have come across the "talking suit of armor." I identify it and it looks like awesome armor. The +2 constitution bonus will make my Dwarf regenerate rather nicely.

I know the scenario as I've been through this before.

I put the armor on and PooF! The PC is dead and Chanteel (sp?) appears saying that I can't control him. My first time through, I had a weaker party and just gave up trying to beat the demon. This time I've managed to kill the demon several times, but where's the armor? I thought for sure that when the demon died, the armor would be there -- no luck.

So then I thought maybe I could "control" the demon, as my PC boasted in the dialogue. I tried characters with high Constitution, Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, . . . high level, different classes (Fighter, Cleric/Ranger, Fighter/Mage) all to no avail.

Is there a way to get this armor or am I just being taunted by the game creators?

The demon is the Armour, so when you kill it the armour disappears, you just killed it. The demon has taken the shape of armour as he tells you if you take certain dialogue options. I think the only way to keep the armour is not to wear it, just to i.d. it and then sell it to the mage in the tower on the island.

Nope, not true. Two ways to wear the armor. If you come back and talk to it a few times, never taking the option that turns it into a suit of armor, it'll tell you that it'll serve you if you kill an innocent.

The second way is to find out the demon's true name. Do that and you can force it to serve you. But you may need to ask a thing closer to the demon's home to get that name.

Ok well I guess I miss the point of wearing a demon for armor. I mean...It's a Demon. Thats like dipping yourself in gasoline and handing Ted Bundy a match.

Wow Axterix. Your knowledge of the game amazes me.

And I've never seen Leafy stumped. LOL

Thanks. I'll try reloading and see what I can do.

You need to get a scroll of "contact higher plane." I think you can get one in that tower on the surface of burial isle or from the barkeep in Lonelywood. If you cast it, a ghost or something will appear and you can ask it a question. Cast it after you talk with the demon (named Vexing Thoughts), who will tell you that he killed his last master after he forgot the demon's name and therefore lost control of him. If you contact other plane, you can ask the demon's name, then confront him with it, and take the armor. Supposedly you can later reactivate the demon ONE TIME to fight at your side, but the armor is destroyed in the process, so keep a spare set handy. I have not yet tried it, but I plan to use it at the final HoW battle. Hope this helps!

Oh yeah, if you actually kill an innocent to wear it, you still somehow get screwed. I forget how though.

Please forgive me Father B! I know I've been Bad! I promise i'll go right home and play more HoW right away!

no really, I played IWD thru a million times, but HoW only once. I found HoW to be differnt from IWD in some upsetting ways. Mainly the technically slow and creatively unimaginative few levels. lonlywood, barbarian camp, burial isle, gloomfrost, and the final island... did i miss any levels?
though it seems that if you play IWD and HoW to completion; then import your characters to a new game in HoF mode; you can sort of judge how bad it is by how the goblins die; then decide wether to go the special door in kuldahur or not. it's a rather blanaced game that way.
ummm, i know this tread is prolly off subject, sooooo

I didn't notice many cool quests in HoF; anyone wanna mention a few to see if i hit them all? (i.e. the frost rose, the vexing thoughts armor...) .. little things that you can do just by talking to people in lonliwood don't count

I talked to the demon again.

It gave me the dialogue option to say that I've already killed an innocent (don't remember where or when, but oh well I went with it anyway).

Maybe I'll get messed over later, but right now my Dwarven Fighter is wearing armor that puts his Constitution at 21 = regeneration anyone?

Now I just have to remember where I put Joril's axe. I think I sold it somewhere. Now it'll cost me a fortune to get it back. Oh well.
