Just starting out and have many rings, necklaces, and jewel type things. All look like they are identified, none are magical as far as I can tell. Am I missing something here or am I just sopposed to sell them for cash to help my party along in the game?

As Beltazar said, you should sell them as quickly as possible to make room in your inventory. I often find my backpack full of stuff, so I like to get rid of things as quickly as possible. There are some rings and necklaces that are worth up to 3,000 gp so be sure to actually pick them up and sell them, as opposed to thinking 'this will only give me a few gp, I'll leave it on the floor'. I'm sure you already know this, but make sure you identify anything unidentified before you sell it.

Yep, just sell them. But remember there are a few jewels that you shouldn't sell because you need them for a quest. You can find out if you need them by checking the description. At least one comes to mind: which is Joseph's Greenstone ring (looks like a normal greenstone ring) Maybe there are more, but I don't remember them right now.
