I'm sick to death of not knowing them and the only in-game method is trial and error. It's like bioware just assumed that everyone who played BG2 would have a D&D monster handbook beside them...
Anyway, to take a little strain off my brain, can anyone provide me with a link to a site detailing the various creature types' resistances, innate abilities and stats. Just for once, i want my brilliant plan A to be the end of a battle, not my average and/or cheesy plan D. Thanks in advance.

you can have the game and shadowkeeper open at the same time and ALT-TAB between them
and you can view the .cre(ature) files in shadowkeeper i learned in testing this that trolls have 66% physical damage resistance (which i had noticed in-game) but also that Improved Torgal only has 5 WIS which makes the WIS-reducing bonus merchant scimitar an interesting prospect all of a sudden . . . |

Sever, this is supposed to be a role-playing game. Would your character know how to hurt a golem or a lich? Probably not, they'd find out through trial and error.

However, Klorax, after the umpteenth time of going "oh my, I didn't expect that?" people start to change their views on said roleplaying

I've been using SK periodically when i get stuck, but i never thought of alt-tabbing. For multiple creature listings, is there a way to determine which variation of baddy i'm currently facing without using the CLUA console? (ie. Bodhi has a dozen or so entries in SK) I'm nearly chapter 7 with tactics and have been tempted to cheat out of convenience/frustration on numerous occasions. That i haven't is only due to the fact that i haven't activated the CLUA...
SK can help me with most of the numbers, but it can't help with all the details i'm looking for. Take liches for example, where does it tell me they're immune to normal weapons? Or that dragons are permanently vocalised? Or that beholder's rays aren't magic, as such, and can breach scrolls of magical protection etc? Is there no site that details creature types with a little less hard numbers and a little more practical fact?

I think I sometimes had a text file with all relevant information about all the creatures in the game, but I think SK is easier.

In defense of roleplaying... Sure, I wouldn't expect a level 9 fighter with an intelligence of 10 to say, "Hey guys, this is a Clay Golem. No pointy weapons."
However, I do think that a high-level Mage with a high Intelligence score *would* know how to beat a lich or golem. After all, a Mage would have likely come across the procedures for *building* golems, or becoming a lich, right? Just my two cents.

That's pretty ridiculous, Illumina. If ANYONE knew how to fight/beat a Golem, it would be a FIGHTER. Especially at Level 9! Maybe not with a 3-6 Intelligence, but I would not expect anyone to make 9th level being that stupid. 10 is actually slightly above average intelligence, so it would stand to reason that a 9th level fighter would see clay, realize that his sword may merely put slices in the clay, and deduce that his flail would have a "splattering" effect on said Clay Golem.
You are absolutely correct about the high-level mage, though. Just representing all of us "stupid" fighters out there. (Actually I have a 12 intelligence, as you can tell by my typing and staying in the margins and all) edit: apparently I can't spell when I type fast. That's true.. I said Level 9 because that's about what you are in SoA.
I think an adamantine golem or something similarly exotic would have been a better example. Some more spoil-y examples that would justify checking Shadowkeeper or, say, the message boards for advice... . . . . . . "Hey, guys, I know the golden skull promised us riches if we gave it this torso, but maybe we should think about this. I *know* I read something about this in Candlekeep." "If we're going after Firkragg, perhaps we might consult my library first? It wouldn't be prudent to go into this blindly." I think bards would also be fine candidates for this kind of insight.
