Ascending Bhaalspawn's Offsider. Two positions vacant for the duration of a jaunt through Tactics SoA and Ascension ToB. Applicants should have skills to offset and drives to match that of a neutral evil kensai-mage or sorceror player character. 3rd party mod NPCs only. Standard SoA NPCs need not apply.

I've had a fresh install of SoA and ToB for three days now and i still haven't finished rolling a player character. AD&D characters always were "hit and miss" and i want my first run in over three years to be a "hit". No restarts. No hiccups.

Just to make sure, the order of installation is: SoA, ToB, BG2 fixpack, Tactics, Ascension, anything else. Yes?

Valen and Silverstar are the prime picks at the moment. Of the two, only Valen have i tested before ( [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img] ) but only briefly. Without spoiling too much, she does go walkabout after a certain boat ride, yes? As in, she cannot remain in the party for the duration?

Also looking at Kido (evil jester, prophet of cyric) and Neh'taniel (neutral wraith judicial knight). Has anyone had any experience with these (or any other) npcs? Sarevok will replace any non ToB NPCs.

Well blow me, there's a useful thread. Thanks Armen, i hadn't seen that one before but that's no surprise really since i haven't been in here more than a handful of times in over three years. I'm stumped as to why that thread, if not a sticky, hasn't made it into the classic threads section under informative.

Pleasantly surprised that Kido ranked as highly as he did. I'm using the Beta 4.1 version (compared to the Alpha 3.2 that Imrahil reviewed)so i'm guessing the bugs have been quashed somewhat. Looking forward to including him, though my PC might have his hands full trying to contain him, Valen and SilverStar all in the one group. He sounds more fleshed out than i was led to believe. I thought i'd just be taking him along for the ride.

Speaking of SilverStar, she's all that i'd imagined her to be. My PC simply could not abide her to be anywhere else, for as much the good of the rest of Faerun as for himself. I conjured a useful synopsis from her earliest dialogue and it's showing no signs of changing. No ToB content is sad, but i've already got the perfect epilogue in mind for her departure. She's got a great portrait too, (which is important, no?) Really fits her character and sits nicely alongside bioware portraits (also important, for me at least). My only regret is that i won't be hearing her banters with the standard NPCs. (Which has reminded me of a mod idea i had, a long time ago... More later.)

No Fade for two reasons: With Valen in the party, recruiting her is impossible. Even if possible, with Valen and SilverStar in the party, there'd be an overbalance of thieves anyway.

As for my game, Chateau Irenicus and the Circus Tent are done after my first night of play. I can't believe how much i'd forgotten, especially since using the Dungeon-be-gone mod to skip the Chateau from my third game onwards... I'm very nearly a newb all over again! I decided on a kensai-mage as the PC. Ran into all sorts of trouble early on. No improved Ilyich, of course, but the rest of Tactics is going to be a killer until i've got dough and some useful stuff. Especially whilst in the early stages of the dual. Am probably going to be posting a lot of questions in the coming weeks that i myself would've known answers for a few years ago. The first of which being: What item was the genie holding (is it the pantaloons?) and where abouts is the lamp to trade for it? It's too late for this game, but i'd still like to know.

As for my mod idea: It always bothered me that in order to enjoy all the various NPC dialogues, they had to be in your party for the duration and alongside various other NPCs who may or may not be useful and/or wanted. The only solution being to start yet another game. Bein' there, doin' it all over again inevitably becomes boring when the only new aspect is a few lines of dialogue here and there. What i want is a social setting where NPCs can be included for a short time and engage in "war story" swapping activities. Can't stand the thought of Cernd being in the party soaking up xp but still wanna enjoy a few cross-npc banters? No problem, meet him at the Coronet, recruit him to the table, buy him some drinks and hear what he has to say to other NPCs. Situation dependant banters could be activated by dialogue options detailing places been and enemies done in your travels. The permanent NPCs in your party could be temporarily dropped (without the cold shoulders) whilst you mix and match various combinations of the dead-beat NPCs to stimulate a little conversation. When you're done, reform your party regulars and head off to record a few more war stories for future banters. There's more to it, but what do you think of the idea in general?

the mod is a nice idea

genie had Sarevok's sword of chaos (2-handed +2)

dryads had the genie flask

pantaloons are in a cupboard in the dungeon i believe - only if you import a save game (or maybe a CHAR file) from BG1 that has them in the inventory
