I beat the final boss and finished the Baldur's Gate "trilogy". I have heard that Icewind Dale will let you import characters from BG2. Is this true? If so, are they at the level they were at in the end of BG2:TOB. Or would my level 27 ranger be back at level one?

I know that Neverwinter Nights allows you to important your BG2 character (at least according to those little notes you get during the game loading and saving screens), but I'm not sure about IWD.
IWD is more of a fighting game than BG and BG2, so keep that in mind.

I thought i remember SOA saying that you could import to IWD, though. I'm not sure, which is why I'm asking.

You cannot import from BG2 to IWD. You can however, import from BG2 to NWN.

Yes, NWN does let you import your BG II character but you start off as level 1 without yor equpment. Went I saw that I fekt really ripped off. I had a feeling that this wan`t my character anymore. Another character with my name, but that`s it.

Dundee and Xen, are you sure? I know it says that in one of the BG2 load screens but I always thought Bioware changed their minds because of the changes from 2nd edition and 3rd edition rules...

Yes. They changed it a bit though. Refer to Xen's post to see what I mean.

So that means you can import your character form the end of TOB with the great abilities points you rolled plus any stat increases picked up during the game to NWN? Seems a bit unfair to those who start a new NWN game and they don't get as many stat points to allocate. Still, *runs off to play NWN with his uber stat Paladin*

Cannot be done. Bioware removed this feature early on, since the 3E system is very differently balanced than 2E. By the time you have imported the character, you would have the portrait, and the name. Thats it. You can do that by hand (although the portrait might be troublesome, I think that some converted BG2 portraits are on the vault though) but there is no actual import function.
