I installed ToB on my computer today and i did a full install. No problems there. But then when i wanted to get into the program it would keep doing one of those illegal operation must close jobs. So i restarted my computer as many times that solves the problem. It doesn't.

So then i uninstall ToB and SoA and then reinstall both of them, only doing the minimum install on ToB this time(i figure it's only 1 CD anyway.) Installation itself is again, fine. But on the menu screen or the side bars during gameplay whatever my mouse was last on creates multiple images of itself everywhere. The part of the screen where the action is seen is fine, but the menus, Inventory, etc. are crap.

Is there a patch for this, is it a problem with my copy of the game? what do i need to do?

Graphics drivers would be the obvious suggestion. First go to your graphics card maanufacturers site and get the latest, then go to www.glsetup.com and run that. Fixes most driver probs in my experience.

Other than that, in the config program theres an option for soft cursor blits. Find it and enable it. Itll stop the graphics card bollocksing up the mouse cursors. I dunno how *anything* could screw up the mouse cursor like this though, its a fairly common thing after all.

If the software blits are greyed out then your running in software mode. try enabling 3d acceleration, maybe thatll help. Although your framerate may drop through the floor. Or not, all depends on your system

You can find out your graphics card on the spec sheet for your computer.

*waits for the laughter to die down*

Since ive never met anyone who kept hold of it, you can find out what you have easily because a graphics card displays its specs in the top left of the screen immediatly after you power up. On my system you can only see it if the monitors already warmed up, on many youll have to screw around in BIOS to see it.

Ha! After looking for my type in the startup screens it was not there. Wilbur then went to screw with Bios as suggested. This menu however had a password that i do not know. (I will have to look into this, as I didn't know had any passwords.) To boot the Glsetup thing was hoplesly uninstallable and unusable for some reason i cant remember and no longer care. Wilbur then went and fiddled with his configuration for about half an hour and finally found a combination that works! By turning all of the 3d animations off, the oppisote of that suggested, everything looks fine. Hopefully the game will not look terrible due to lack of the third dimension, but either way this makes me happy. Thanks Andrewas!

OK, you can remove a BIOS password if you have the system manual. Since everyone loses those as well youll need to find part numbers and so on and so forth, and will need to find the appropriate data on the internet. Since this is complex and not neccesary at the present time, I will go no further.

Turning 3d off is the opposite of what I suggested, but only because the fact that the software blits were greyed out suggested that 3d was already off.

Glsetup never fails. Ever. Except under winXP when sometimes there are no appropriate drivers. Or if you have an extremely unuual card. Laptop integrated graphics maybe, or just really old. Dunno really. If you are running XP you *need* to patch your game. Hell, patch it anyway, save yourself the trouble of doing it mid-game. Get the baldurdash fixpacks as well.

The game does look terrible once you disable the nice sexy alpha-blending and transperency of the 3d-card, but you get used to it. And if you have time to notice such things in the heat of battle your pausing too much.
