I have a little problem. I bought ToB a few days ago and I installed it this afternoon, but I wanted to start the game and I got the message 'Please insert the original CD-Rom in drive'. I have the European version of ToB & I also have the European version of SoA. I managed to start the game once, but that only happened after trying 3 or 4 times and I haven't been able to restart it ever since. I have bought the game Legally at the local computer shop, so it's not like I'm using an illegal copy. Has anybody else had this problem? and if so, does anyone have a solution?

Edit : I forgot to mention, I already tried to install it twice, once as a full install and one as a minimum install. SoA is fully installed.

Hey there fellow Dutchman! I had a problem similar to yours. I also have the European versions (english) and when I first wanted to play the game (after a good install) It also asked for the original version. But this was the only time that it happened to me. Since then I haven't had any problems with it. Now this may or may not be due to the fact that I installed the 26498 patch. I installed it for other reasons but it may also be the cure for your problem. I say give it a try if you haven't already. It can be found here: http://www.interplay.com/bg2throne/downloads.html

More Dutchies on the board rearing their "ugly" heads.
I happen to be one too, same as Jaran -though he's from Friesland, so I don't know if that counts as being Dutch-

I used to have the same problem when playing on my laptop PII 233MHz.
I'm now playing on a PIV 1.8GHz and don't have the problem anymore. Might be something with the CD-rom drive, but now I'm only guessing as hardware is unexplored territory for me

Well, the game started, and if it starts again tonight, I think my problems might be solved, so thanx.

The ToB CD has a copy protection scheme on it (A first for Bioware AFAIK), and that always means that some CD-ROM drives will fail to read it. It also means that the protection checking was likley removed in the patch due to excessive complaints from users who couldnt access the disc.

If the problem persists, go to www.gamecopyworld.com and install a NO-CD patch. Youll need a full install of both games to do this, but at least youll be able to load the game.
