Can anyone here post me the best character class of the whole BG II game? There are too many options and I cannot try every single class with a new game. I personally thinks that mages are the best, but what are the most essential spells for mages? Also party members; which 5 NPC should I bring along to complete my TOB game? I know that Sarevok is a must...but who else???

Hi HolyAvenger!
In all honesty the offer such a diversity of characters so that you can chose the type of character that suits you the most. If a mage is the most appealing to you then I suggest you try that out first. . You don't really get to start out with a very large variety of spells, but in the beginning, Magic Missile is probably the most important for you. If you do start as a mage, just bear in mind that you will not be able to fight up close and personal, so make sure you have Minsc, and Jaheira up front as your early tanks to absorb damage. As you progress you will be able to decide what other characters to add who will be your fighters, cleric's for support and additonal mages, thief etc. . The diversity is really important since after you play through a couple of times, you will probably want to try out other types of characters.. . Have fun, that is the key. . |

Errr, ahem.
Saravok is the best NPC in the game, if used right. I was soloing a half-orc Priest of Helm, and decided to include Sarevok when hitting ToB. Dualled him to a thief, pounded a few baddies and then HELLO! After Sarry got 'Use Any Item' I gave him Carsomyr +6, which is far and away the best weapon a +5 two-handed swordswinger can bring to the game (distant seconds are the Sword of Grief and the Psion Blade). Sarevok is definitely The Man when it comes to combat--a true monster. His 'Deathbringer Assault' is a gas. With the traps ability and the right equipment, Sarevok can almost handle the game by hisself. He cuts through baddies like a hot knife thru butter...my juggernaut o jestruction. Definitely the best NPC. This duo took out Melissan with nary a scratch, and that's all five levels. Nothing but BAM and set traps and BAM and set more traps and BAM, etc. That wimpy goddess wannabe never had a chance. (toughest moment was...none! this duo kicked so much butt I had to replay some scenarios simply to max out the XPs...if there has to be a 'toughest boss' then that would be the improved Demogorgon. Still mere wheat before the scythe) Sarevok. Accept no substitutes. |
