I have created a Fighter in TOB - well done I hear you say!
I dual class this human in to a Ftr/Mage. Now my weapon proficiencies have dissappeared and my THACO has drastically dropped to reflect my Mage lvl1????? Surely, I should keep my weapon proficiencies - I wouldn't just loose those skills acquired over months of weapon training. Also, my skill with the sword should allow me to keep my THACO rating (until my second class improves it). Very puzzled...

Do not fret, this is one of the things about dualclassing. Your first class's abilities are removed until your second class's level exceeds the level of your first class.
For example. If your Fighter dualled to a Mage at level 13, your Mage class must be level 14 before you get back all your weapon proficiencies and stuff from the Fighter class. On a side note, IIRC, a Fighter created in ToB, starts off at level 17. You may want to consider that this will severely cripple your Mage class, as the Mage will not only take a long time to reach level 18, but it will limit what levels the Mage class can attain, as there is an Xp cap. |

Thanks Dundee - I don't understand the logic behind this as I outlined in my initial post. I guess the best result would be to create the fighter in BG2, import in to TOB and use the remaining 2,500,000 exp points on my mage to keep things fair.
Cheers.

Make a fighter/mage with multiclass instead then or even a fighter/mage/thief really cool I am playing one, added a kit the assassin with shadow keeper so the back stab goes to x7. With multiclass you start getting special abilities when your total XP reaches 3mill so I get one special ability every time one of the three levels goes up. Thats a lot of whirldwind attacks
By the way how come I can't backstab with the celestial fury???? |
