in regards to the earlier question posted by cloud88, i was wondering if you ever fought drizzt? and if you did, did you beat him? and is there any ramifications for killing him? you see i met him early on and tried to fight him but he quickly butchered me (i had no magic and all weapons were ineffective) so i gave up. since he up and disapeared after that, this question is probably only relevant for future games that i start. unless he reapears later? but anyways, is he beatable and if so, what ramifications are there???

Hey dude, I personally have never fought him, as I I couldn't be arsed.

There is nothing really to gain(bar the items), but even when I pickpocketed Frostband, I re-loaded so I didn't have it. I didn't want it as someone told me it was there, and I didn't want to keep it without me finding it.

But from what I have been told, there are consequences. In BG2, it effects your game. I wont tell you how/why.

Hope that helps, and if you wanna try and beat him, knock yourself out!

First time i played BG 1 and met Drizzt, being the inexperianced and follhardy adventurer i was as yet unschooled in the art of knowing when to run. I ran into drizzt and watched him cut a squad of Gnolls to pieces and then asked me for help. At this point in didnt think he needed it and i rather like his two scimitars, so i turned on him with the impression that my strong and well equiped team would make short work of this lone fighter. How wrong i was. Within a matter of minutes he had reduced my enitire fighting force to small cubes of meat. I sat and watched with horror mixed with shock at the devastation caused by this one man. After the shock had faded i asked myself the question, "Why on earth did he need my help in dispatching a group of gnolls?"

My last party "fought" Drizzt because they were a mostly evil party and I needed the Reputation drop. That was the first and last time I killed him. Here's the post I made about it:

http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cg...c&f=1&t=001892

I really wouldn't suggest you kill Drizzt though. Why? Because you can't kill him without being extremely cheesey. Plus, the items you get from him are insanely powerful and they will upset the game balance for the rest of the game. And, as others have mentioned, there will be consequences for this course of action in BG2!

HOLY S%*T !! from reading your past message Darkman, it sounds like this Drizzt is a frickin fetchin FORTRESS!!

though, i guess the only way i could justify taking his stuff would be through "face to face or conventionable" methods. but, before that i think i would atleast need a hint to the ramifications that would be forthcoming in BG2.

if anyone wants to elaberate, feel free. however, you should probably add a spoiler notice.

since some people like to learn, but not be taught.

My usual tactic is to leave all my party at one side of the map and just go in with 1 character armed with boots of speed, potion of speed and plenty of arrows of piercing. and then try to keep my distance (cheesy I know, but effective)

Say daniel, or anyone else, do you know if drizzt stays in the same map area after the initial encounter (knoll fight)???

because i met him early on and i'm almost positive that he walked off into the abyss.

and again, did you experience any problems in BG2, if (or when) you imported your character??

[SPOILERS ABOUT DRIZZT]

Why Drizzt is one tough cookie:
Basically Drizzt is an army of one. He has VERY high magic resistance so spells are useless against him. He has very good AC so you almost need critical hits just to damage him. He is extremely quick on his feet so he can run yer arse down. He has a lot of attacks per round. He almost never misses. And he does a ton of damage. His only flaw is in his AI.

You will only meet Drizzt the one time. He is on his way back to Icewind Dale (his home) but has just been ambushed by a bunch of Gnolls when you see him. After he kills all the Gnolls, with or without your help, he will leave forever.
