Poll: Diva or Planetair

Since I rarely use the planetair I can't really make the call, but I'd like to hear your opinions.

Planetar is far better - It seens to be stronger and it has a much better spell selection.
Use him and cast globe of blades for Extra damage and use Earthquake to kill the foes

Yep, the Planetar is much better than a Deva: 3 attacks instead of 2, far superior spells ( 3 complete heals,3 earthquakes, 3 globe of blades,3 holy words,3 raise dead, symbol of death, true seeing, insect plague, flame strike fire storm and so on). Besides that the Planetar wields a silver sword (vorpal hits) and dispells magic with a hit I think. The Deva carries a mace of disruption, which only insta-kills undead.

I Have to Agree with the others how can you compare them one hit kills ammazing spells better amount of attacks no contest

Planetar without a shadow of a doubt. Of the celestials available in ToB, planetars are only outranked by solars.

There's only this one wee-bit little thing - aren't these 2 the high level summons of DIFFERENT classes? I.e. Planetar is for mages and sorcerers and Deva is for priestly types? So if you are a soloing Paladin for example, who cares which is better, since you can ONLY summon the Deva anyway [img]smile.gif[/img]

Yeah, but look at the person summoning it: Clerics are almost as powerful as the Mage, but with Really good AC! SHielld, armour, a wider selection of weapons to use and you can kick some real ass!

Any of you people have this problem? If you have a summoned Deva or Planetar attacking an enemy, and your mage casts an offensive spell and it hits the summoned, do they turn hostile? cause that always happens to me for a weird reason...

It's not a wierd problem, it's designed that way. There is very clearly a block in their AI which says:

IF
AttackedBy([PC])
!Allegiance(Myself,ENEMY)
THEN
RESPONSE #100
Enemy()
END

which basically means if attacked by a PC, and you are not already red circle then turn hostile. Casting a damaging spell constitutes attacking.

Also here are the important stats to settle the argument

:

Good Deva:
Level: 30
HP: 110
AC: -7 (-11 with DEX)
THACO: 5
Attacks/round: 2
Magic Resistance: 70%
STR: 19
DEX: 19
CON: 14
Immune to: backstab, poison, confusion, petrification, level drain, charm, slay feeblemind.
Regenerates 1 HP per 3 seconds.

Fallen Deva is almost identical.

Planetar:
Level: 25
Exactly the same as Deva EXCEPT:
Has 5% more Mag. Res.
3 attacks per round.
only 15 DEX so AC of -8 (deva has -11 with DEX)
Better spells
Regenerates 1 HP per second.
Silver sword while Deva has Mace as has been stated above.

so yeah it seems the planetar is better except for AC and for Level.

I must say that mages are pathetic in comparison to priests in ToB, and yes the Planetar is better then the Deva, but only due to spells
