After getting your first higher level ability (Whirlwind), what is the purpose of choosing anything other than Greater Whirlwind?
Nothing else even comes close to matching it's power! I should mention this post is strictly listed for fighter types. Combo classes would probably have other good options, but for fighters, Greater Whirlwind is the most best. It might have been more balanced if you had to have a Whirlwind, for every Greater Whirlwind. ------------------ ![]() "The Martyr" (excerpt) There is sobbing of the strong, And a pall upon the land; But the People in their weeping Bare the iron hand: Beware the People weeping When they bare the iron hand. --Herman Melville (written after the assasination of President Abraham Lincoln) |

I beg to differ. Critical strike is incredibly useful. If you cast improved haste and critical strike I think it's almost better in some cases.

can't you use them both at the same time? G Whirlwind and Critical Strike seem a potent mix.

Multi-classed Fighter/Mages can cast Improved Haste, Greater Whirlwind, Critical Strike and other buff spells thanks to Improved Alacrity... ...
Hardiness is very very useful too, lasting one minute, it reduces damage by 40% consider getting 2 of them. Smite is also very cheesy if you use it properly, you can wave bye bye to a boss's minions with Smite then Greater Whirlwind the boss with no distraction. ![]() ------------------ If not a Sorcerer casting total oblivion, then a Cavalier meting out justice. The only problem with critical strike is that all of the bosses are immune to critical hits (or most of them are at least) and the bosses are where you need all the help you can get. Greater whirlwind is the best in this case. Hardiness and magic resistance are very handy too. Hardiness definitely makes Yaga shura a lot easier.
