Staff of the Ram is bugged!

I took my mid level party through watchers keep at chapter 2 (my kensai went in at level 15 and came out level 21!! and that's with a party of 6!) and got the lovely staff of the ram from Saladrex. 10% of all hits firecly knock opponents back, but I have noticed that loads of enemies actually get hit through walls and doors! The ogre jail keep in the mindflayer zone in the underdark was hit THROUGH the cells where you are locked with the Githyanki upon entering this zone, and you can't re-enter after your final gladitorial battle with the Kua-Toa so I lost the 10000XP from him! Also, when I attacked the master brain I actually smacked it back into itself and could no longer get to it with melee weapons! I had to call in my archer to finish the job. I know this is a very powerful weapon, but still, smacking enemies through walls!?!?!?! Do you think that they don't expect you to have this weapon at this stage of the game which is why they haven't taken precautions to prevent this?

when they originally designed the shadows of amn they didnt have that staff in the game
it only came out with throne of bhaal
i suppose they really ought to have made the tower only available in the tob map instead of the amn map if they wanted to keep the super weapons out of your hands
