a friend of mine who's into fantasy art referred to drow (dark elves) this weekend but she pronounced it differently to me - so which is it?
1. 'drow' (rhymes with cow, how, now) or 2. 'drow' (rhymes with low, throw, blow) thanks in advance |

Depends on where you earnt your stripes in AD&D circles I'd say, but I'm leaning towards the former - its what I've most consistenly used and heard over the years, going back to when a friend first drew me a charcoal sketch of Mr Drow'Urden (sic) in art class back in '92.

I don't understand Cerebrodragon... I earned stripes in D&D over 20 years ago, and I never saw a pronunciation guide when Drow first made their appearances.
BTW, I always said option 1 (rhymes with cow).

I always used the first, that also seems to be Forgotten Realms canon.
