Just a question fromm a noob

Hi. Just two questions for you:
1.In BG2 for example sling of everard(or something like that) that you can buy has a +5attribute. What i dont understand is: does it count as a modifier to hit(requires a +2weapon to hit etc) or a +5dmg if hit or both?

2.A friend of mine asked if i would like to join him in a multiplayer bg2game with him as sorcerer plus he want to take yoshimo for storyline or jan for magic and thief skills. The question is if i agree what class should i take: i had two classes in mind undead hunter or archer so he wont have to calculate where to throw that spell without hurting me. Your opinion.

1. When using a missile weapon, the enchantment level of the launcher has nothing to do with what the weapon can hit: Only the enchantment of the ammunition matters. A +4 Bow firing +1 Arrows will not be able to hit a creature that can only be struck by +2 weapons or better. Now, the Sling of Everard (and two certain Bows) is a special case: It can create its own magical ammunition. If you set the Sling to use an empty ammo slot (just remove the ammo), the Sling will fire phantasmal Bullets. They have a +5 bonus to THAC0 and, I believe, +5 to damage (using Bullets+1 with the Sling of Everard would result in +6 to hit and +6 damage), and--this is the important part--they strike as +5 weapons, making the Sling the only +5 ranged weapon in the game.

2. Hm. I wouldn't play a multiplayer game at all until I'd played through it at least once by myself, but it's your call. As for class, since you've got a Sorcerer and Jan/Yoshimo, you are in sore need of a Tank, and some Priest spells as well. I would suggest a Paladin, Fighter/Cleric, or Ranger/Cleric.
