Thorn, My halfling assassin, blew off the offer to infiltrate and take over the thieves' guild outpost because he thought the duties of leading the guild would tie him down. Is this an error?

Philosophical mumbo jumbo:

It's an error if decide later in the game you'd have liked to do it and the offers not repeatable.

It's not if you're havin fun and dont let it eat at ya.

I passed on the romances in the game and ditched Nalia right after I got her crib/home/castle (I know I'm gonna hear it from sixofspades for calling a stronghold a crib.. lol). I know I probably missed out on some things by doing it but I'm not second guessing it, I'm havin fun with the choices I made.

You do so too.

The offer is still alive. He said to come back if I changed my mind.

I plan to dump Nalia if I can possibly get Imoen back. I suspect there is little future for an evil halfling assassin and a goody-goody with a brain full of mush.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I'd be a little irked if somebody dropped a spoiler on me without warning me first.

True, this thread needs spoiler tags.

And Thorn is a name for a Druid, not an assassin.

Yeah, but everyone else has a right to criticize it, too. I mean, what if you called your Elven Sorceress "Hurgath Ironfist?"

Pirengle, when you chastise someone for spoiling, and you quote the offending text, you have to edit your own quote, too.

Names are important, even if only for your own feelings. I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but I hear of a lot of names that really don't fit with the Baldur's Gate setting. Two-word names often sound cool in themselves, but it's a little off-putting when you realize that the game doesn't recognize which is your first name and NPCs say the whole string every single time. (I had to restart my first game because of that.)

For better or worse, we don't flame here... and I completely agree with you. I have a few characters with two names, and the first time I attempted to use a two-name name in the game I ended up restarting, too. It's distracting, especially in the romances.
