i just got baldurs gate 2 with the throne of bhaal today. i am having problems with the 2d and 3d options that you can choose.

when i start the game in the 2d mode, the game freezes after you make your character and click done. however, when i change the mode to 3d, and select the open gl, the game no longer freezes up after you create your character.

i also got the icewind dale games today too, and the same exact thing happens to them. the thing is that i want to play them in 2d mode, and not 3d. does anyone know how i can fix it? my computer is a 1200mhz celeron, 512mb ram, geforece4 mx 4000, and with windows 98.

id appreciate any help, thanks .

If you can possibly afford a better graphics card, get one. I think the GF4 mx4k is ,,, well,, not very good. I have one in my backup CP, and in order to keep the thing from randoms crashes(all the way to reboot) I have to lower the graphics accelleration in the "display" properties of WIN98.

The only thing I can suggest is to play around with your "display" options graphic accelleration. This probably isn't much help, sorry.

i managed to get it to work . for some reason, the newer nvidia video drivers doesent make the 2d work. i installed older nvidia drivers for it, and it works perfectly now . thanks for offering help elfbane ... you know youre the only one... i appreciate it .

if anyone else has problems with nvidia cards and the 2d... just try installing an older driver to see if it would work .
