Let me start by saying that I just bought a new computer, and am very happy with it. It's nice to look at, runs smoothly, ect.
I was really looking forward to continuing my BG adventure from the old computer, and I e-mailed myself the files. Unfortunately, those files have a virus attached to them, and can't be downloaded. It doesn't surprise me that my old computer had virus(es) on it. So, looks like I'll be starting over again from the very beginning, which is a bit frustrating, but kinda fun too. My reason for posting this thread (finally!), is that I can't seem to get the same configurations with this new computer. The game looks to be "stretched" up and down, so that all of the characters look a bit skinnier. When opening the game, on the screen where you choose between SoA and ToB, the two icons are not circular, they're ovals now. How can I get back to the circular look I want? Also, are the unsupported modes of viewing the game (1024x768) any good? Or am I better off with the 800x600 I've used in the past? TIA

Could this, possibly, be caused by me having a flat-screen monitor now (I never had one before)?

It could be your moniter settings are off, like the position and size etc, although then i think it'd look skew-wiff all the time...Just a suggestion.

Yeah, I just tried messing around with those settings, and that isn't the problem.
I guess I'll have to play with taller, skinnier heroes! Another problem I just ran into: I can't start a multi-player game. Is there something I need to install or update to play in multiplayer I might not be remembering?

Well, i'd have to say, patch yourself up completly, then try again.
Back to the moniter problems, it could just be the moniter is different to the last, so it won't look the same as it did. It could all be down to that.

If by flatscreen you mean LCD then this is certainly possible, although I wouldn't think it would be that noticeable. 1280x1024 for example doesn't have the correct 4:3 aspect ratio that all the others do.
The extended modes are fine, I never run BG2 in less than 1024x768 - try shifting that and see what happens. |

It's not like the screen is a whole lot different, it's just something I noticed.
When I loaded up a game at 1024x768, I couldn't believe how tiny everything looked, since you have so much more screen to work with. I think I could get to like that.

You can TGTF Run the BGConfig programme, look down under the 'graphics' heading and select the 'display' tab. Check the 'unlock modes' button and you can select from 1024x768, 1280x960, 1600x1200 or 2048x1536.

Oddly enough, when I unlock the modes, only 1024x768 becomes available. I wonder why that is.
