I'm not aware of any serious problem connected with the TeamBG patch. While the additional possibilities it offers are not overwhelming in sense of power it gives some nice insights and is great for testing out several borderline situations.
I often used it for gradually CLUAing up characters from lvl1 (in BGT that is) to test out certain game mechanics (Candlekeep makes for a nice testing ground).
The only thing that bothers is that 15mioXP is the max and thus level progression on higher levels is much to fast.
