I have cretaed a party, or at least 4 members of one, to take through the game filling the remaining spaces with NPCs. I had originally intened to dual my kenasi into a theif at level twelve. However, i am now considering a mage as I would have to keep yoshi in my party for a significant time after dualling, until my stats were high enough, even with my monk taking the scouting role. I am reluctant to do this as Yoshi is not a good... long term investment, in my opinion anyway. Also, I have proficency in Katana, and Dakkon Zerth's blade would be a great weapon. But i am concerned as to whether there will be enough spells to go around and if it will tilt my party too far to the magic side, although i think the spells i would use would mainly serve to boost combat performance, stoneskin etc.
Currently my part is:
Sorcerer
Monk
Fighter/Cleric (Dualled at lvl 9)
Edwin
Yoshimo

Any thoughts on which would be the better way?

Thieves gain levels faster than any other class, so you would gain the needed skills quickly enough.

However, if you've taken a proficiency in katana, then Dakkon's blade is an excellent choice for a kensai dualed to a mage.

But you're party IS very "magic heavy" with a sorcerer, fighter/cleric, and Edwin. That should provide all the spells you need. This would give you the option of dualing to a thief and then backstabbing opponents with Celestial Fury. {oh yeeeeaah!)

Hmm... sounds good. I do like a bit of back stabbing, my favourite tactic at the moment is to have the fighter cleric attract attention and then WAMM backstab from Yoshi and stunnig blow from monk. I severly wounded enemey and if your lucky, three stunned, easy meat!!
