After finishing BG I discovered ToSC, reloaded, patched and everything. Now I've got to chapter 6 (The Return to Candlekeep) and I cannot get the Gatewarden to arrest me! I've spoken to Koveras, killed Reiltar, worn that dodgy ring, vandalised the walls, removed all the toilet paper from the Gent's, started to wear dresses and generally acted illegal. But I'm stuck! Whenever I speak to the Gatewarden he keeps telling me to speak to a stranger, I've gone around every inch of candlekeep, spoken to all NPC's and Cow's and still not got anywhere.
Please help. Best advice will win a roll of Sellotape. Thanks |

LOL! IIRC, the arrest is triggered simply by reaching the fourth floor of the library. When you make it to the top floor I think someone walks up to you and arrests you. The following is only of additional interest and some of it may be spoiling you so I'll put it below:
. . . . . . . . . . . . . Not sure if this will be of any help to you, but one interesting thing I found--and maybe this was a bug--was that from a save where I had skipped the fight with Rieltar and his lackeys my high reputation remained intact even after I was arrested and made my way through the catacombs! However, I found the cave area where Prat is was nigh but impossible to pass through--it was as though the AI kicked up the difficulty to an absurd level or something. I might have been able to do it if I had kept trying, I dunno. In any case, I ultimately used a save where I had fought Rieltar and the rep was down where it should be and completed chapter 6. Anyway, I wonder if there are some known bugs in this quest.

Hm, I always skip the fight with Rieltar and had never problems getting past Phrat. OK, he´s quite a tough guy, but anyway I managed him...

I've not yet got to Prat and forcibly explained the error of his ways, I'm convinced I've hit a bug that isn't allowing me to progress-there isn't anything more I can do to get arrested. Is there any way to skip a chapter?
Still looking for that Sellotape winner. |

Yeah, this is the 'advance to a new chapter' cheat:
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("Chapter","Global",x) where x = the chapter you want to go to. The other possibility is to use the MoveToArea cheat to get to the catacombs--Actually I would do that instead because there are some valuable items in the catacombs that I wouldn't want to pass up! Hence, try CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR2600"). And if that doesn't work (although it should) you could also try Cheats:Hans() with all the characters positioned in the area where you fight Rieltar. IIRC, that is adjacent to the warded entrance to the catacoombs. Good luck! (I'm assuming you have cheats enabled and know how to use the CLUA console. If not let me know and I'll post it.)

Or if you have a Saved game to go back to, you could just go back and try again.
WHAT TRIGGERS THE ARREST: 1) Killing Reiltar & his Iron HarmonioThrones, and then taking the stairs. 2) Talking to Koveras, and going up to the 6th floor. Either of those two will get you arrested, provided there are no bugs. If you're sure you met either (or both) of these criteria, I'd cheat and use the MoveToArea that Lemernis suggested. I have never lost Rep. by killing Rieltar, even when I was a Paladin.

A clarification to my earlier post: it is on level 6 that you are arrested. Also, the drop in rep occurs from being accused for killing the leaders of the Iron Throne (whether you did or not). And the rep drop is integral to the plot, Six. Maybe this is a buggy area!

Lemernis, I believe you may soon be the proud owner of a roll of Sellotape. I think it's the Rep problem that I've experienced. I'd love to give that CLUA console a go but as you've guessed, I'm as clueless as a Goldfish in a Nuclear Reactor (I also glow too)so instructions on how to do that would be great.
I'll give all those suggestions a try...thanks muchly for your help. |
