I was playing with Edwina the other day, with the lady portrait and all, and something dawned on me that the portrait didn't look rough enough for me (I'm not saying it's bad, whoever made it, it's still a work of art, believe me!). Edwin(a) needed more character for my liking.

SO, I opened up Photoshop to see what I could to to Edwin(a). I'd say I was mighty succesfull, considering how it turned out. In truth, my version of Edwin(a) is really just a mix of Edwin's portrait, the BGI Imoen(she's the mouth ), and Nalia (see the hair and the head band?). I added a few effects to the portrait (Lightened around his/her eyes, made the backround sorta glowish, did some other things), and voila! My new, and improved Edwina! Enjoy!

I don't know how to make it work in the game, though, since it only shows up as the head with a question mark. I know it's supposed to be a .bmp, but I had to host it as a .jpg for it to work. Does anyone know how to add the portraits to the game? I really want to use it!

LOL! Sorry but it`s really hillarious. It seems like Edwina ate something and she doesn`t like it. Still a very good job tough.

I must say I did have a blast making her. It really wasn't meant to be serious(well, it was at first, but then I saw how she looked when I zoomed out). I did some good ones with Imoen and Nalia(Just switched their hair), and I must say, Nalia looks good in red. I tried to give Irenicus some hair, but that was too hard. His head is all wonky and lumpy.

Personally, the lip ring is what cracks me up. I have to hold back a laugh every time I see it.

If anyone can tell me how to make these work in the game, please do! I'm looking forward to using her!

I'm a little suprised that nobody has made an 'Edwina' romance yet.

The goal is to convince Edwin to remain a woman so you can *enjoy* her company.

Well, Edwin doesn't really have a choice in staying/not staying a girl. That person just comes along and ruins your fun!

Congrats Goulum, you turned Edwina into a butch Nalia

What you have to do is resize the dimensions of the image to match the size of the portraits used in BgII (don't know what they are though). I'm sure there is a way of replacing Edwina's current image by putting it into the override folder, but it slips my mind atm, but what you could do is just put it in paint, make sure it is saved as a 24-bit bitmap image and when that's done, change his portrait in Shadowkeeper.

LOL she definately got hit in the face with a shovel. Which is quite possible considering Edwin sarcastic demeanour.

But yeah, the pic - I LOVE IT!

A butch Nalia? I suppose that works too.

It has to be a 24-bit bitmap? Hmm...maybe that's my problem, I think I was saving it as a 32-bit or something. Thanks!

If anyone wants to use it, go ahead. You just need to resize it, and save as a .BMP. I'm gonna go do that, myself, right now.

BG II README file said --

Custom Portraits:

The measurements for player portraits are 38X60 pixels for
the smaller portraits (8-bit color runs faster but it can be
up to 24 bit color), and 110X170 pixels for the larger
portraits. To use a custom portrait, place it in the
Portraits directory (in the install directory for the game)
and add an S to the end of the small portrait name and an L
to the end of the large portrait - otherwise the two names
must be identical. The names must be 1-7 letters long,
maximum - so the filename with the S or L added to the end
is no longer than 8 total characters. The portrait files
must be in BMP format.

For example:
XXXXXXXS.bmp for small (38x60, 8-bit)
XXXXXXXL.bmp for large (110x170, 24-bit)
That works for your own created-characters. For built-in NPC's, you can either change their portrait with Shadowkeeper, or I believe there is a way to do it by placing the new portrait in the Override folder with the proper matching filename. For this I'm guessing the filenames should be:
EDWINAS.bmp for small (38x60, 8-bit)
EDWINAL.bmp for large (110x170, 24-bit)
