So I have noticed a lot of you posting that you are soloing with this or that. Are you really just going through BG2 with 1 character??? I can't imagine soloing some of the fights I have been through with a full party. Are you using any mods to assist your solo characters? I am just interesting in soloing, I think it would be cool to be such a powerful Mage to be able to solo the game I just can't believe it is possible Anyone care to share tips and stories about their solo careers?
Thanks, |

Its been ages when I last touched my BGII cds, but I have soloed a kensai/mage & sorcerer, and I know people that have soloed every thinkable class/dual class..
Don't fight me about tactics/tips, because I haven't played BG2 in like 1,5 year time, what I can say is that your character will ascent to such a high level (due to you get all the experience points you earn) that you will find your character overpowerd in some situations, this was the thing that happend with my kensai/mage soloer ... it was just amazing what a katana wielding mage can do in some situations ![]()

You will level up 5 times faster than if you have a full party, soloing, so you are able to become a powerhouse quickly, which helps you to win those seemingly impossible fights.

Ok I know this is a dangerous question but is there a "best" solo class? And are the only mages to solo a dual class one?
Thanks |

It`s hard to say wich class is the "best". I`ve soloed a Bard (Blade kit) and a Sorcerer and had a great time. Mages are not the only who can dual class.

I know they are not the only ones that can dual class. What I meant was, is they only way to solo a mage to dual class the mage?
Also what about a 2 person party is that still as dominate? Thanks, |

I can tell you this much.
My first time through the game I played with a druid(avenger), viconia, cernd, and jaheira. Finishing up the game, I ended in ToB at just about 5k below epic level (I hit epic level before (very minor spoiler)gromnir). I hard no truly hard time finishing anything. I would imagine a duo game to be fun, especially if you make two self created characters. I think I would take a thief/cleric multi and a bard(blade) for a little spellcasting, traps, and cleric spells. Just about everything you need in two nice little neat packages. spoilerish/tacticish note: I never did fight kangaxx or the twisted rune, but spellcasting foes were relatively simple to take out because protection from magic weapons was handled by sword spider form, and spellcasting was easily defeated by insect plague and later on creeping doom, coupled with a doom if neccesary

You should play the game twice, maybe three times before you attempt a solo. If you have, then by all means you should go for it. If you're really sick, you'll get so good that you'll be able to do it on Hard or Insane difficulty.
If you've played the game a few times and don't mind spoilers, check out some of the fine story threads, including but of course not limited to< shameless self-promotion > The Chronicles of Faldorn. WELCOME TO IRONWORKS SOL!!!
Personally, if you have moderately good knowledge of spells or above, I find the easiest class to solo with being a sorcerer/ess. I would recommend that for sheer power with minimum game time. -Brainless One |

I agree with the sentiment of playing through a couple of times before soloing. It helps to know where traps are, what tactics the enemies like to use, etc. However, sorcerer is definitely one of the easiest (as well as a F/M/T multiclass, as it covers pretty much all of the bases). In fact, I gave up my sorcerer solo as I just got bored with it; I could blast anything from dragons to liches with a minimum of effort, cast knock on chests, have mirror image soak up trap damage, etc. Once I got to level 15 and had skeleton warriors, it got old pretty quick.
Now, I have been dabbling with a bounty hunter solo, and that has been fun. You can abuse trap cheese, but the big thing is getting around spellcasters (pretty much have to run away and wait for their spell protections to run out, or hope a backstab takes them out before they realize you are there). You do level very, very quickly as a solo. You also learn how to use all of a classes abilities to their fullest, as you have no choice in the matter.
