I'm replaying BG2, but it's been several years and my memory's a bit rusty.

In my game, I've just received the messages from Valen (saying her mistress is waiting for me in the Graveyard) and Brus (saying Gaelan wants to see me and sweeten the deal). I have not yet started doing Renal Bloodscalp's quest of exposing MaeVar's treachery. Now my memory's really hazy on this, but I know that if you wait for too long before going to the Graveyard, Bodhi will not be there and you have to take the Shadow Thieves' side. I want to side with Bodhi though. So how long can I wait before she will become unavailable (no guesses please, I don't want to have to reload an earlier save) OR could it be that I can accept Bodhi's offer and still finish the MaeVar quest thing first? I can't remember, but I thought that once you accept Bodhi's offer for taking you to Spellhold, the Shadow Thieves will become hostile.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I think it's three days. I also think that you can complete the Mae'Var quest. So I will give you a solution that uses what I know.

First off, make a new savegame right now. That way, once autosaves and quicksaves are expended, you'll have something to fall back on if something goes wrong.
Next, spend a lot of money. Buy some items you need, or items you'll need eventually. If you have less than 15,000 gold on you when you go to see Bodhi, if memory serves, the timer should be satisfied but your choice won't be set in stone.

And really, the Mae'Var quest includes two battles. You should be able to do it in well under three days anyway.

Thanks Illumina. (back from the beach again? )

Yes, of course I can do the MaeVar quest in three days, but I didn't know I *had* three days.
And that's good to hear about the less than 15,000 GP... thanks for the help!

I've heard of the three-day limit from a number of posts, but I once took far longer than that without Bodhi minding. I did Windspear Hills and a few small quests while Bodhi waited. I suppose you could save, then rest a whole bunch (>9) of times and check.

[Ed: sadly, my math was wrong]

One last thing to note (in answer to your initial question) in all this: once you accept Bodhi's offer, all the Shadow Thieves *will* become hostile & you can't then do Renal's quest (or get Edwin).
