"Need" is such a relative term...

Is there any particular reason that you "need" the cloak of cheese? I used to "need" the shield of Balduran for beholders and then I got sick of just waltzing through them. Needless to say, the Unseeing Eye quest is much, much more difficult (but in many ways, more satisfying) if you don't resort to using cheese.

I know someone will yell at me for saying that certain in-game items are cheese, that if the designers put them in the game they were meant to be used and are therefore NOT cheese. What I'm saying is that you never really need any single item in the game. It might make the game easier, but I can't think of any one thing that is truly a necessity. Just my $0.02, not worth much.

Remember that you have to use an item til it makes things too easy before you can stop using an item because it makes things too easy.

actually to finish the game you require at least a +1 weapon (or better) of some sort, or spells

... and a certain lightsource, and a mode of transportation and a few other things, but Neomi's point is still valid.

Skin dancer - how you play the game is entirely up to you, but if you read ahead in your walkthrough too much on your first run through the game, you'll have a lot less fun (though you will finish the game a lot more quickly than you would otherwise).

Likewise, both items are banned in my games. I think Cloak Of Mirroring, and Shield Of Balduran, are boring. Zzzzzzz
