Okay, finally had some time to kill again and decided to replay BG2 once again, only this time with a mod I hadn't tried before. I did consider going for The Big Picture initially, but somehow the idea of having to download about a dozen smaller mods for it to work just didn't sound all that appealing, especially with the pain that is FilePlanet in mind.

So I decided to give Check the Bodies a try - not really a demanding download or installing process, while still offering some new quests and a city; on top of that, it starts off with a flashback to your youth in Candlekeep.
spoiler
While the idea of the flashback is good and gives some interesting insight in the Bhaalspawn's past, there are some continuity problems (you'll end up with skills at the age of 8 that a level 20 character wouldn't even have), as well as some very repetitive chores (like making the beds throughout the entire Candlekeep, sorting books, and milking cows), that don't have to be repeated once, but five times - some restraint would have been nice with that part, but ah well.

Took some perseverance on my part (as you'll get frustrated really soon with that opening scenario), but I managed to make it through to the main game; haven't noticed any of the differences so far, but then again, I haven't even progressed past the Slums as of yet.

Anyway, did anyone else here try this mod? And what were your findings?

I haven't tried this mod, but, the original un-modded game would not let me milk cows. That always bothered me. So I will have to try "Check The Bodies."

Be forewarned though that the first part of the game - before you even wake up in Irenicus's dungeon - tends to get very repetitive, up to the point that it makes you want to eat your keyboard. Pity, because the idea behind it, and the BG1 movie-style summary that follows the tediousness, are actually quite good.
