can't get Anarg's cup (SPOILERS)

In my party my PC is a paladin, and I've got Keldorn, Minsc, Aerie, Yoshimo, Adario (from TDD). I got the Fallen Paladins quest from Ryan, went to see Reymond deChatillon, and he wants me to get Anarg's cup. But when I go back to the Radiant Heart, all I get is snubs ("your reputation precedes you," "I suggest you leave.") What did I do to get these guys panties all in a wad? I was only trying to help! I even used the Ring of ??? (forget the name, gives you 18 Charisma). Still the cold shoulder. What can I do to get back in the good graces of these noble stuck-up do-gooders? I've got Shadow Keeper if there is a flag that needs resetting, but would prefer to find out if I did something to alienate these guys.

Aside from Charisma, there is a very important statistic called REPUTATION.

I suggest you donate some money in temples and raise your reputation to a more appropriate level before speaking to Reymond again.

That was my first thought... but how low could your rep be, without your NPCs whining you to sleep...?

I think Ryan won't talk to you if you are at 8 Rep or lower, so riverman could've been at 9, got the quest, lost a Rep point, & now Ryan won't talk to him (which is silly given he assigned you the quest already). Like Dace said, just go donate 500 gp or so to a temple & try again.

My party was at Rep 9. I gave 500 gold to the temple to get Rep 10. Now Ryan talks to me and I got the cup. Odd that I would get the quest at rep 9, but then no help. Anyhow, thanks guys, that seemed to do the trick.
